Coast assures investors of friendly investment environment

COAST REGION: COAST regional authority has assured investors in the region to continue improving the investment environment as a way to enable sustainable production of goods and services.

Coast Regional Commissioner Mr Abubakar Kunenge said here recently that the government has made a lot of efforts in infrastructure investments including power generation in various parts of the country.

“Our government is doing great work of constructing electricity infrastructures all over the country and these include construction of the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Hydro Power Project (JNHPP) in Rufiji district which has started to produce more than 200 megawatts in its first phase,” he said during the Regional Business Council meeting.

He said the region has a total of 1,533 industries and that more industries are being built across the region.

“Our region is among regions with a huge number of industries in the country.  We need more investors to come and work with us and we are well prepared to work with them. We have ensured that our facilitating agencies work at full capacity and that no obstacles can hinder individuals who come to invest in our region fail to meet their goals,” he said.

For his part, Tanzania National Business Council (TNBC) Secretary Dr Godwin Wanga said that the Coast Region is doing well in investment issues and that more efforts were needed to make it perform even better.

“This year there will be an award for the region which will emerge the best in business and investment issues in the country,” he said.

Mr Wanga went on to mention terms and conditions for winning the award as availability of land, availability of business information, transparency in dealing with business issues, job training, omitting oppressive policies in business and investment and others.
