Clean cooking energy campaign gains momentum

TANZANIA: ORYX Gas Tanzania said yesterday the clean cooking energy has made a great stride after donating 33,000 gas cylinders worth 1.5bn/- since its beginning three years ago.

Oryx Managing Director Benoit Araman said yesterday that the campaign is sustainable while underscoring the importance of the media in educating the public about clean cooking energy used.

“We believe that editors and journalists are very influential, so you would help in practically persuading the people to use clean energy,” Mr Araman said during an event to hand over cooking gas cylinders and stoves to journalists.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan government is prioritising a campaign for clean cooking energy and set a target to reach 80 per cent of the population by 2032.

“Bearing this in mind, we the Oryx Gas have decided to promote the campaign and are determined to practically achieve the government dream,” he said.

He said the company has been donating the gas cylinders and stoves to different groups, including food vendors, public servants and entrepreneurs.
