DAR ES SALAAM: Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania, Chen Mingjian has congratulated the country’s national soccer team, Taifa Stars for qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The continent’s most prestigious football tournament will be staged in Morocco next year.
The diplomat posted on her official X account on Thursday expressing her joy in seeing Tanzania’s football making continuous breakthrough in the continent and the world in general.
“Hongera! Tanzania’s national football team Taifa Stars has qualified for #AFCON for the 4th time. I’m so happy to see Tanzania’s football make continuous breakthroughs in Africa even in the world!,” the envoy posted.
Tanzania secured qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco after a thrilling 1-0 victory over Guinea in a decisive Group H clash in Dar es Salaam.

This marks Tanzania forth times AFCON qualification since 1980.
Taifa Stars also qualified in Afcon in 2019 Egypt and 2023 in Ivory Coast.
Tanzania is among three nations from East African bloc which have booked a ticket for AFCON finals.
