DAR ES SALAAM: The newly launched China Image Broadcast Season program in Tanzania has facilitated the exchange of cultural values between the people of the two countries.
This was revealed by the China Global Television Network (CGTN) Deputy Editor in Chief, Mr. An Xiaoyu, during the Tanzania Media Forum held in Dar es Salaam recently.
“As the world’s largest international media organization in terms of scale, diversity of operations, and coverage, China Media Group has been dedicated to building bridges for dialogue and mutual learning between China and the world.
“In April of this year, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Tanzania, we launched the ‘China Image Broadcast Season’ to improve cultural relations between the two countries.
“Several outstanding Chinese films and television series, including Meritorious Service, The Children of the Qiao Family, A Foreign Bride Comes to the Village, Taste of Xinjiang, and the animated series Hockey Storm, have been translated into Swahili and aired on different media stations.
“Many Tanzanians are able to glimpse the lives of ordinary Chinese people through these broadcasts. We also collaborated with the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) to produce the program ‘Interesting China,’ which brings Tanzanian audiences a firsthand experience of China’s contemporary pulse,” he said.

He added, “With approximately 30 percent of Tanzania’s population being youth, we launched the Swahili-language app ‘CheChe,’ delivering audio and video content from China directly to young people’s smartphones.
“We place great importance on media cooperation with Tanzania and East Africa, actively promoting cultural exchanges and expanding our circle of friendship.
“During our visit to Tanzania, we will engage in extensive discussions with media colleagues, negotiating the establishment of a ‘China-East Africa Media Partnership Cooperation’ mechanism.
“This will include regular program exchanges, online and offline audience engagement activities, personnel exchanges, and program awards, fostering mutual learning among civilizations and creating a platform for collective intelligence and consultation for those on the path of modernization,” he noted.
“We also extend an invitation to all media friends to participate in our cooperation mechanism. During the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in September, we will invite representatives of our partners to visit Beijing,” he said.
