Chalinze leaders urged to align with Vision 2030–2050

KIBAHA: HEADS of Departments and Sections in Chalinze District Council, located in the Coast Region, have been urged to incorporate the goals of Tanzania’s National Development Vision 2030–2050 into their planning and implementation of development projects to ensure better outcomes for the community.

The call was made this week by Deputy Director of Policy, Research and Innovation at the President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG) Ms Lemmy Shumbusho.

She was speaking during the opening of a six-day training programme for council professionals at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Leadership School (MJNL) in Kibaha.

Ms Shumbusho explained that the National Development Vision 2030–2050 provides detailed strategies and action plans for launching and sustaining socio-economic development projects tailored to the real needs of Tanzanians.

“One of the key objectives of the Vision is to ensure that communities actively participate in planning and implementing their own development projects,” she said.

“It also encourages communities to utilise local resources to improve their livelihoods and access opportunities in both the social and economic spheres.” She further noted that under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, the government has successfully addressed many challenges previously faced by district councils.

These efforts have resulted in greater access to training, job creation and enhanced capacity for decision-making at the local level.

Other notable achievements under the Sixth Phase Government include improved revenue collection through modern digital systems, better oversight of development projects and a stronger focus on delivering quality infrastructure and services.

Ms Shumbusho said the training was part of broader government efforts to strengthen council-level governance by investing in leadership development for department heads and senior officers.

“The aim of this training is to improve public service delivery, enhance accountability and promote discipline in the management and utilisation of public resources,” she said.

Chalinze Council Head of Public Relations, Mr John Mlyambate, said the council had organised the training in response to ongoing government reforms aimed at enhancing performance across public institutions.

Meanwhile, MJNL Acting Principal, Mr John Baitan, outlined key topics being covered during the training, which include economic diplomacy, negotiation skills, digital transformation, good governance and supervision of development projects
