CHADEMA touts transparency in elections

BUKOBA, KAGERA: CHAMA cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (CHADEMA) has highlighted the importance of transparency during elections, urging voters to elect committed leaders.

Bukoba Urban CHADEMA Chairman, Mr Adronicus Kalumuna said on Thursday during the launching of the party’s campaigns held at Kahororo Ward in Bukoba Municipality that local government leaders play a big role in managing development projects, asking voters to elect committed and hardworking leaders.

“Eligible citizens are encouraged to exercise their constitutional right to choose their preferred leaders or run for office,” he said.

The purpose of local government is to decentralise power to the people. Local government bodies have the right to engage and involve citizens in planning and implement various development projects.

Mr Kalumuna also encouraged citizens across the country to actively participate in the democratic exercise by attending party campaigns and turn up on November 27th this year to elect their leaders.
