CCM stands firm on national peace

ARUSHA: CHAMA Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Secretary General, Ambassador Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, has reiterated the party’s commitment to upholding peace and stability, stressing that CCM has consistently prioritised opinions of Tanzanians in preserving national unity.
Dr Nchimbi made the remarks on Tuesday in Arusha during the launch of the Arusha Region Women’s Journey Forum, where he underscored the importance of inclusive dialogue in safeguarding peace.
He said the ruling party remains open to engaging various stakeholders, including religious and traditional leaders, to ensure peace and cohesion are sustained across the country.
The CCM Secretary General also praised President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership, citing notable progress recorded over the past four years.
He said the country’s economy has grown at an average rate of 5.5 per cent annually, with significant strides made in implementing strategic projects.
“Under President Samia’s leadership, the country has made tremendous progress. The CCM Election Manifesto has empowered many women to start and formalise their businesses,” said Dr Nchimbi.
He added that women now represent 37 per cent of the National Assembly and have demonstrated strong commitment and integrity in public service.
Sharing a personal experience during the Arusha Region Women’s Journey Forum, Dr Nchimbi revealed that he once suffered a severe eye infection which was successfully treated using breast milk, saying that this deepened his appreciation for the selflessness and nurturing strength of women.
“From that day, I came to truly understand that women are not only selfless but also the backbone of peace and family stability in our society,” he said.
He further commended President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership, noting that Tanzania continues to earn respect within the East African region due to its steady economic growth and rising per capita income under her administration.

Dr Nchimbi urged the youth to draw inspiration from veteran women whose contributions to the country’s development, dating back to the independence struggle, remain invaluable despite many of them going unrecognised.
Meanwhile, former Arusha Regional Commissioner Mr Paul Makonda expressed his appreciation to President Samia for the trust she has shown in him by assigning him key leadership roles within the party and the regional administration.
He also expressed his gratitude to the people of Arusha and extended an apology to anyone he may have wronged during his tenure.
Speaking during the Arusha Region Women’s Journey Forum on Tuesday, Mr Makonda urged the new Regional Commissioner, Mr Kenani Kihongosi, to continue the efforts he initiated during his leadership.
“I thank the people of Arusha and ask forgiveness from anyone I may have wronged during my time in office. I urge the new Regional Commissioner to carry on the work I began. My mission was to unite people, not divide them,” he said.
He also extended his appreciation to the Arusha Regional Administrative Secretary, district commissioners, drivers, security personnel, fellow government staff and CCM members for their cooperation and dedication throughout his tenure.
Meanwhile, traditional leader Chief Laigwanani Lekisongo Meijo called on Tanzanians to reject ethnicbased politics, warning voters against supporting any candidate who promotes tribalism
