CCM remembers Mwinyi for economic, political, and social reforms

TANZANIA: Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has stated that the ruling party’s former national chairperson, Alhaj Ali Hussan Mwinyi, will always be remembered for his significant contributions to economic, political, and social reforms during his tenure.

In a statement issued by CCM’s Secretary-General, Ambassador Emmanuel Nchimbi, on Friday, the party emphasized its enduring appreciation for Mwinyi’s efforts in effecting practical, operational, and systematic changes within the party.

“CCM will continue to honor all the positive contributions that Mzee Ali Hassan Mwinyi made to our party. We pray for his soul to rest in peace and extend our strength and condolences to his family, relatives, and friends during this difficult period,” read CCM’s statement.

The late President served as Tanzania’s second president from 1985 to 1995 and as the Chairman of the ruling party, CCM, from 1990 to 1996.

He passed away on Thursday evening in a Dar es Salaam hospital after losing a battle with lung cancer.

He will be buried in Zanzibar on Saturday, according to a timetable released by the Prime Minister’s office.
