CCM pledges to increase the amount of fertilizer subsidies in Mtwara

NEWALA: THE  Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has promised to increase the amount of fertilizer subsidies for farmers if given the chance to lead the country for the next five years.

CCM’s presidential running mate, Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, pledged when speaking to residents in the Newala district, Mtwara region, adding that among the party’s priorities is to better the lives of farmers in the region.

In his speech, Dr Nchimbi said that in the next five years, the party is determined to continue with all processes initiated by President Samia Suluhu Hassan in improving the agriculture sector in the country.

“Among its key priorities is to increase seed subsidies for farmers in Newala and across the southern zone, as well as expanding the number of agricultural experts (extension officers). We want more professionals in this field so that our agriculture can be more productive,” he said.

However, he asked citizens to turn out on October 29 this year and vote for the party’s presidential candidate, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, while urging them to also choose MPs and Councillors from CCM.

Until now, the presidential running mate has covered 16 regions since the launch of the CCM campaigns.
