CCM highlights major achievements, strategies

DODOMA: CHAMA Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) National Chairperson, President Samia Suluhu Hassan yesterday highlighted achievements made to strengthen the party in the past two years and unveiled strategies to strengthen the party ahead of the General Elections.

She said among the accomplishments, was the remarkable growth in CCM membership from 3.6 million in May 2024 to over 12.1 million by the end of 2024, attributing it to the successful implementation of a digital membership registration system.

President Samia explained these during the Extraordinary General Meeting in Dodoma yesterday while presenting the implementation of the party and wings’ tasks between 2022 and 2024.

“In the 10th National General Meeting held in December, 2022, a report was presented on the execution of tasks over the previous five years (2017–2022).

Following extensive discussions, the meeting adopted resolutions aimed at enhancing party efficiency and some of the directives have been implemented,” she explained.

According to President Samia, these include the acquisition and distribution of 194 vehicles to 149 district offices, along with 32 vehicles allocated to regional offices.

Motorcycles were also provided to every ward office nationwide to improve efficiency in serving party members at the grassroots level.

Nine vehicles were provided to CCM Wings, three each for the Parents’ Wing, UWT (Women’s Wing) and UVCCM (Youth Wing).

Efforts are underway to ensure the remaining 19 districts receive new vehicles before the 2025 General Election.

“Our priority has been ensuring that CCM leaders and officials can effectively reach and serve members in every corner of the country,” President Samia said, adding that the initiative aligns with the party’s commitment to empowering its structures and fostering deeper connections with its members.

In addition to the transportation, she said CCM has focused on capacity building, as training sessions on political ideology, socialism and selfreliance have been conducted at regional, district and ward levels to ensure that leaders are well-equipped to address contemporary challenges.

“International training opportunities in China and India further strengthened the party’s operational capabilities,” President Samia noted.

She also commended the introduction of a digital platform that enables real-time communication between the party’s headquarters, regional offices and district branches, saying that a pilot project for this system is at its final stages and is expected to enhance coordination as the party prepares for the upcoming elections.

“This system will allow us to issue directives directly from headquarters to all regions and districts efficiently, ensuring seamless operations. It’s a vital tool as we gear up for the 2025 General Elections,” she said.

President Samia commended CCM members and its affiliates for their dedication to the party’s growth.

She specifically recognised the efforts of the party’s secretariat, led by Secretary-General Ambassador Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, in coordinating internal reforms and ensuring the successful execution of key projects.

Despite its accomplishments, President Samia stressed the importance of safeguarding resources and remaining steadfast in the principles of justice, democracy and good governance. She called on leaders to prioritize transparency and accountability in all their undertakings.

“There is no doubt about the size of CCM, it is the largest party in the country organisationally, structurally, historically and by membership.

I promised at the last General Meeting that, in collaboration with you leaders, delegates and citizens, we would continue to strengthen this party and the work is ongoing. Let’s continue to build this foundation,” she said.

Among the directives issued by the 10th National General Meeting were to provide political, ideological and socialist self-reliance training tailored to current contexts for party leaders, members and staff.

Others were driving economic reforms through effective implementation of CCM’s policies, strengthening the party’s justice, democracy and leadership systems, building robust economic and political foundations for CCM and its Wings and enhancing the use of ICT in the party’s operations.
