CBE publishes 288 research studies in global journals

DAR ES SALAAM: The College of Business Education (CBE) has published 288 research studies in internationally recognised journals in the past five years, reflecting its commitment to globally accepted standards.
This was stated on Wednesday in Dar es Salaam by the Rector of CBE, Prof Edda Lwoga, during a press briefing on the college’s 60th anniversary.
“The success of CBE researchers being published in international journals stems from the college’s collaboration with national and international institutions, ensuring the research is both high-quality and highly influential,” she stated.
Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister, Dr Doto Biteko, is expected to grace the celebration next week at CBE’s main campus.
She said the college’s collaborations with various international institutes and colleges have enhanced its curriculum and boosted student enrollment each year.

She stated that over the past 60 years, the college has produced thousands of graduates across various fields, many of whom have become self-employed and created jobs for others, rather than struggling to find employment after graduation.
She noted that in recent years, the college has successfully established apprenticeship and incubation programmes, which have greatly helped graduates secure employment and effectively start their own businesses after completing their studies.
Speaking about the upcoming celebration, Prof Lwoga highlighted that CBE was established in 1965 through a cooperation agreement between the Tanzanian government and Germany, marking a great success.
The celebration will include various activities, such as signing agreements with stakeholders, launching the College’s 50th Year Vision, distributing gifts to special individuals, cake cutting, and entertainment.
Prof Lwoga emphasized that since its official opening by the first President, the late Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, CBE has been at the forefront of providing quality business education. The college has continuously evolved, expanding its services to meet market demands.

She pointed out significant improvements, including an increase in campuses and student enrollment.
The college, which started with one campus in Dar es Salaam and only 30 students, now has four campuses.
The Dar es Salaam campus currently enrolls 14,536 students, the Dodoma campus, established in 1983, has 4,611 students, Mwanza, which opened in 2007, has 2,098 students, and Mbeya, founded in 2013, has 1,018 students, bringing the total student population to 22,263.
Regarding academic programmes, Prof Lwoga noted that the college has expanded from offering diplomas to now providing Master’s degree programme, with a total of 63 programmes currently available.
She added that CBE employs 499 staff members, 482 of whom are permanent and 17 on contracts. Among them, 244 are lecturers and 251 are operational staff.
“In general, these achievements in academics and research demonstrate that CBE is a leader in strengthening business education and fostering productive knowledge for national development.
“The college continues to invest in innovative studies and research aimed at building a sustainable economy in Tanzania and the East African region,” she added.
