DAR ES SALAAM: THE Chief Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Registration, Insolvency and Trusteeship Agency (RITA), Mr Frank Kanyusi, has urged citizens and higher education loan applicants not to wait for the loan application window to open before submitting their verification requests to RITA.
He emphasised that the certificate verification system is available year-round, and early submission will help streamline the process.
Mr Kanyusi made the remarks on Thursday while speaking to journalists at a ceremony for the exchange of Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) between institutions involved in identification matters: RITA, the National Identification Authority (NIDA) and CREDITINFO Tanzania Ltd, which processes loan applicants’ information for financial institutions.
“Currently, a loan applicant can submit a request for verification of their birth certificate or a deceased parent’s death certificate through the eRITA system available on the agency’s website – www.rita.go.tz. Once the verification is complete, we provide the applicant with a special number, which, when entered into the Higher Education Students’ Loans Board (HESLB) system, is read directly by RITA,” said Mr Kanyusi.

Mr Kanyusi reported that since the window opened on June 1, 2024, a total of 244,354 verification requests have been received, of which 218,263 are for birth certificate verification and 26,091 are for death certificate verification.
“Until today, the agency has verified a total of 243,629 requests, equivalent to 99.75 per cent of the received applications. Of the verified requests, 26,150 had deficiencies and the applicants were asked to make corrections, while 618 were rejected as the certificates submitted for verification were invalid,” said Mr Kanyusi.
Additionally, Mr Kanyusi stated that 725 requests are still under verification and the process is expected to be completed within one day.
“In line with the government’s commitment to providing excellent services to citizens and implementing President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan’s directive for all government systems to be interoperable by December this year, RITA, in collaboration with the Higher Education Students’ Loans Board (HESLB), has already implemented this directive,” said Mr Kanyusi.
