Call for authorities to observe fairness and humility in serving the public

KIGOMA: THE Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kigoma, the Right Reverend Joseph Mlola, has urged leaders and all people in positions of authority to serve the public with integrity, humility, and accountability throughout their tenure.

Bishop Mlola made the call while delivering his homily during the Christmas Holy Mass held at the national level at the Our Lady of Victories Cathedral in Kigoma Region. In his sermon, he reminded leaders to emulate the example of Jesus Christ, who, despite being the Son of God, humbled Himself and served all people without discrimination.

He emphasized that Jesus’ life was characterized by humility, love, and service to all, values that leaders should uphold when serving those under their leadership.

Furthermore, Bishop Mlola encouraged Christians to use the Christmas season as an opportunity to leave behind past mistakes and negative behaviors, and to start a new life in accordance with the teachings of the Christian faith. Christmas was celebrated today, December 25, 2025.

On another note, Bishop Mlola called on young people across the country to emulate good values, uphold moral standards, and protect Tanzanian culture to build a generation founded on strong moral principles.

Speaking about the behavior of some youths, Bishop Mlola noted that there are young people who imitate foreign lifestyles that are inconsistent with Tanzanian values. He cited the example of youths who inappropriately wear trousers, stating that such behavior is unacceptable and offers no benefit to their future.

Overall, Bishop Mlola stressed the importance of living according to good morals, humility, and service to others as a foundation for the development of society and the nation at large.
