Bunge committees’ meetings kick off Monday

DODOMA: THE Parliamentary Standing Committees’ meetings are set to kick off in Dodoma on Monday next week ahead of the 18th Parliamentary sitting scheduled to start on January 28, this year.

According to the statement released by Parliament’s communication and public education department, the Subsidiary Legislation Committee and Parliamentary Public Investments Committee (PIC) will start meetings on January 6, 2025 and the rest will start their meetings on January 13, this year.

The statement also highlighted that the key agenda items for the meetings will include the review of various Bills, with four parliamentary committees assigned the task of analysing specific legislative proposals.

The committees are the Governance, Constitution and Legal Affairs Committee; the Social Welfare and Development Committee; the Water and Environment Committee and PIC.

Moreover, the Subsidiary Legislation Committee will analyse laws that were submitted in the House during the 14th and 15th Parliamentary meetings.

The statement also highlighted that 11 parliamentary committees will receive performance reports on the performance of the government and its institutions.

Furthermore, the budget committee will receive and discuss the report for the implementation of the government budget for six months from July to December, 2024.

The statement also explains that two parliamentary committee will analyse the Controller and Audit General (CAG) report.

The committee, which oversee the spending of public funds will analyse the CAG report on Ministries, public entities and local government authorities as audited until July 30, 2023.

Also, the PIC will receive and analyse the reports on the public investments to determine if the investments are efficient and have considered proper business strategies.
