BSS winner Razack snatches 30m/-
TANZANIA: TEARS of joy poured down Razack Adam’s cheeks after being announced as the Bongo Star Search (BSS) season 14th winner. The Arusha-based singer snatched a 30m/- cash prize. Where 20m/- was received from the organisers team and 10m/- from Vibes ON.
Other prizes offered include a plot of land for the winner and 10m/- from the Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (ZIPA). He sang R. Kelly’s song ‘When a Woman Loves’ which steered him to landmark success as the audience sang along with him at the venue. “I give praise to God for winning BSS. The competition was tough and everyone who competed deserved to win…it was all by God’s will,” he said.
“This has been my long time dream because it is the third time I have competed in BSS. In the past editions, I did not excel beyond the top 20. “My prayers are to breakthrough in the music industry. I dream of becoming a great musician.
I will invest the 30m/- I won to make an impact in my music career.” Again, Adam seized the platform to thank Arusha residents for their support rendered to him say ing he would not let them down and he made a record of being the first person from the region to win the accord.
In the top two categories, Adam got the better of King David who also reached the finals but could not get enough votes to enable him to grab success. On her part, BSS founder Rita Paulsen hailed all those who participated in the 14th edition of the talent show insisting that they made it colourful.
“I thank the sponsors’ support for making this edition meaningful. We hope they will continue to rally behind us in the upcoming editions,” she said. She was among the panel of four judges alongside Joachim Kimaryo (Master J), Salama Jabir, and Zena Mohammed (Shilole).
