Bridging the financial gap: TCB introduces ‘TCB Popote’ for wider banking access

DAR ES SALAAM: In highlighting a significant gap in financial inclusion, Tanzania Commercial Bank (TCB) has launched the innovative “TCB Popote Account”

The service aimed in addressing the disparity in banking sector and make it more accessible.

Digital Services and Innovation Officer at TCB Mr Jess Jackson, on Tuesday, Dar es Salaam unveiled that only 22 per cent of Tanzania hold bank accounts, and that 80 per cent of them access financial services in five kilometers emphasizing on the urgent need for broader financial accessibility.

“The ‘TCB Popote’ initiative is our solution to bring financial services closer to the people, We aim to empower Tanzanians by simplifying access to banking, thereby fostering greater financial inclusion across the country”‘ he said.

The new service is set to revolutionize banking in the nation offering a more convenient way for users to manage their finances.

He also said “TCB Popote” will also provide chance to users for booking electronic tickets for the SGR, hence enhancing time management.

On his part TCB’s Director of Marketing and Business Development Mr Deo Kwiyukwa, highlighted the bank’s dedication to accessibility and affordability.

“With ‘TCB Popote,’ we’re not just offering a product; we’re making commitment to reach and serve many Tanzanians,” he insisted.

The launch of “TCB Popote” underscore TCB’s strategic effort to utilize technology to close the gap in financial services and expanding access to banking.
