BRELA’s digital innovation earns Tanzania 82bn/-
DAR ES SALAAM: THE Minister for Industry and Trade, Judith Kapinga, has commended the Business Registration and Licensing Agency (BRELA) for the major strides it has made in improving its services through digital systems that earned the Tanzanian 82bn/-in dividends.
Among its achievements are the issuance of licenses and business registrations — efforts that have significantly increased the speed of business registration and licensing in the country.
Minister Kapinga issued the commendation today, November 27, 2025, in Dar es Salaam during her visit to the agency, aimed at observing how it carries out its responsibilities.
She noted that one of BRELA’s major achievements is the expansion of its revenue sources, enabling it to contribute approximately 82bn/- as dividends to the government.
Additionally, Minister Kapinga said that in order to support the government’s 2050 goals — which include creating eight million jobs for youth and establishing a special youth fund — BRELA must enhance innovation and efficiency to contribute to the growth of an economy worth several trillion shillings.

“If we continue registering more industries and more businesses, we will increase employment opportunities and bring economic development to our nation. We highly commend BRELA, and we have emphasized the importance of efficiency, professionalism, integrity, and dedication to work to deliver results for Tanzanians,” Kapinga said.
For his part, BRELA Director Godfrey Nyaisa stated that the agency has taken Minister Kapinga’s advice on board and will continue implementing further improvements, especially considering that more than 90percent of BRELA’s services rely on digital systems. He added that they will keep upgrading their operational infrastructure as well as building the capacity of their staff.
Nyaisa explained that BRELA is integrated with various institutions such as NIDA, TRA, and several banks — a move that simplifies access to essential information and reduces the number of steps required for clients to obtain services. He added that BRELA’s priority is to deliver quality services to private institutions to minimize customer complaints.
Currently, BRELA continues public awareness campaigns about its services, as well as conducting inspections of businesses and industries to improve efficiency and maintain a conducive environment for business growth in the country.
