BMH expresses commitment on IPC practices
IN a bid to prevent infections, the Dodoma-based Benjamin Mkapa Hospital (BMH) will continue to impart knowledge on good practices of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) to its staff members.
Hospital’s Head of Quality Assurance, Dr Bushi Lugoba, noted here yesterday that the main goal is to build capacity to BMH staff members on IPC practices and that new employees will also receive the same training immediately after joining the 400-bed capacity hospital.
“In this four-day training, we impart knowledge on the standard of IPC practices to our staff members to prevent infection in our health facility,” said the Hospital’s Head of Quality Assurance while briefing this journalist on a 4-day training workshop on IPC.
The four-day training workshop brought together a total of 50 BMH staff members and cleaners at the Central Zone Referral Hospital to learn on IPC practices.
Mr Paschal Mashauri, one of the staff members who took part in the training workshop, said he learnt IPC practices and that he would become a good ambassador to his colleagues at work on IPC practices.
“I will become a goodwill ambassador to promote IPC practices to my colleagues and neighbours at home,” he said.
Ms Habiba Mkunguru, another staff member who took part in the workshop, urged higher learning institutions to introduce screening exercises to students who join tertiary education in order to find out tuberculosis (tb) infections.
“I advise higher learning institutions to introduce screening exercises to fresh students in order to find out tuberculosis infections,” said Ms Habiba, who is a nurse from the tuberculosis clinic of the BMH.
