BMH begins 2026–2030 strategic plan formulation

MOROGORO: BENJAMIN Mkapa Hospital (BMH) is in the process of formulating a new 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, with the hospital’s management assuring workers that their inputs will be fully incorporated.

BMH Executive Director, Prof Abel Makubi, revealed this when closing the hospital’s 12th Workers’ Council meeting held in Morogoro.

“We are preparing a new five-year strategic plan. Throughout this process, the Workers’ Council will be closely involved, and your views will be taken into account,” Prof Makubi said.

He noted that BMH is working jointly with the Ministry of Health in preparing the plan and instructed the drafting committee to ensure broad participation across all departments.

“To widen staff engagement, the committee should organise a general meeting for all BMH employees so that we gather ideas from everyone,” he said.

Prof Makubi said the new plan will provide strategic direction for the next five years, considering that the current plan has expired.

He emphasised that the hospital’s sustainability depends on the quality of healthcare services offered to the public and strengthening its financial capacity to ensure consistent availability of medicines and medical supplies.

Meanwhile, Cardiac Technologist Godfrey Tamba proposed that the hospital expand its outreach services programme to regional and district hospitals to raise awareness of BMH services, enhance disease screening and provide more community education.

Presenting the service delivery report for July–September 2025, BMH Director of Medical Services, Dr Kesy Shija, said the hospital attained significant achievements, hitting more than 70 per cent of service delivery targets across departments.

He urged staff to further strengthen the management of inpatient and outpatient care.
