Bluefins field 36 swimmers at National Open Championships
DAR ES SALAAM: BLUEFINS Swimming Club will be represented by 36 swimmers at the Tanzania National Open Championships this weekend.
The event will take place at the International School of Tanganyika (IST) Masaki, in Dar es Salaam.
The team consisting of 11 female and 25 male athletes, includes a mix of seasoned competitors and promising newcomers.
Rahim Alidina, the club’s head trainer and founder, is confident in the team’s readiness.
He highlighted that several of the swimmers are also preparing for the Africa Aquatic Zone Three Championships in Bujumbura, Burundi, later this year.
Notable among them are Sahal Harunani, Aliyana Kachra, Imaan Kimario, Aminaz Kachra, Zainab Moosajee, Hassan Harunani and Kaysan Kachra.
The squad features a strong female presence with Amatullah Mustansir, Aminaz Kachra, Aaliya Takim, Zahra Alibhai, Aliyana Kachra, Sakina Abdulali, Zainab Moosajee, Inaya Raheel, Imaan Kimario, Muskan Gaikwad and Alefiyah Patwa.
On the male side, the team includes Burhanuddin Mustansir, Justin Wabbi, Kaysan Kachra, Sahal Harunani, Saalih Mbonde, Zaeem Somji, Is-Hak Suleiman, Burhanuddin Huzeifa, Qais Kanji, as well as Abbas Abdulali.
Others are Hassan Harunani, Mohammad Imran, Hussein Virjee, Burhanuddin Jaferjee, Idris Zavery, Kabeer Lakhani, Sahil Jaffer, Prem Gaikwad, Burhanuddin Hatim, Austin Wabbi, Moiz Kaderbhai, Uzair Harunani, Shuneal Bharwani, Burhanuddin Jivajee and Taher Zavery.
Alidina emphasised the rigorous preparation the swimmers have undergone.
“We are fortunate to have a blend of experienced athletes and talented newcomers.
Our coaches have worked tirelessly to ensure the team is in top condition.
“We expect our swimmers to perform at their best and set new personal records despite the tough competition,” he said.
The Tanzania National Open Championships offer a crucial opportunity for local swimmers to demonstrate their skills and potentially secure spots for international events.
