The Bunge Sports Bonanza, scheduled for today, will see the Tanzanian Parliament facing off other sports teams in a competitive event.

The bonanza will feature eight jogging groups, including participants from various organizations such as the Ministry of Water, Tanzania Electric Supply Company (Tanesco), Tanzania National Parks (Tanapa), Bunge Girls Secondary School, and residents of Miyuji ward.

The festivities begin in the morning at the Institute of Rural Development Planning (IRDP) ground before moving to John Merin Secondary School, where MPs, parliamentary staff, and other leaders, including Speaker Tulia Ackson, will join in the activities.

Among the highlights of the event will be the match between the Bunge and NMB Bank teams.

Janeth Shango, the NMB Bank’s Central Zone Manager, emphasized the team’s commitment to winning.

“We are here not just to participate but to win and take home all the trophies,” Shango said.

She noted that the event is an opportunity to support the health of parliamentary members while showcasing a competitive spirit.

In response, Festo Sanga, the Member of Parliament for Makete Constituency and Chairman of the Bunge Bonanza, confidently declared the Parliament team’s readiness.

“We are not intimidated by any statements.

The Parliament team is strong and known for its competitive edge,” Sanga asserted.

He humorously added: “These bank people are used to counting money not engaging in sports.

Tanzanians should continue to trust their Parliament; no trophy or prize will leave the Parliament.”
