Being a director is my dream, says Kamwelu  

DAR ES SALAAM: Tanzania’s famous actress, Nelly Kamwelu, has expressed her desire to be one of Africa’s biggest film directors.

Apart from being a long-time actor, she has acquired different skills and knowledge from different universities, thus giving her confidence to embark in the new role of being a director.

The former winner of the ‘Miss Tourism Queen International’ title in China, holding the fourth position is a graduate of the New York Film Academy in the United States.

In her willingness, she explained that after fulfilling the dream, she would come up with her own acting career.

“Acting has taught me a lot of things. In fact, the whole film industry has increased my thinking capacity and given me many new ideas. Apart from directing, I also have bigger plans of establishing my own projects,” she pointed out.

Among many other things, in 2011, she won the title of Miss Southern Africa International in Zambia as well as the Miss Universe Tanzania.

Furthermore, Ms Nelly expressed her plans of giving back to society through various projects of helping the needy.

“To me, giving back to society is very important. I have two projects underway that will be implemented soon,” she noted.
