BAKWATA: Voters should reject corrupt candidates in elections

DODOMA: THE Muslim Council of Tanzania (BAKWATA) in the Dodoma Region has called upon voters to reject candidates seeking power through corrupt practices.
During a press briefing here, Sheikh Mustapha Rajabu, the BAKWATA leader for Dodoma, urged voters to uphold justice by not supporting candidates who engage in bribery and corruption during the upcoming elections.
As Tanzania approaches the General Rlections slated for October 29, Sheikh Rajabu highlighted that certain individuals are being accused of involvement in such unethical behaviors, which are condemned in religious texts.
“I urge my fellow Tanzanians and voters, when the day to cast your vote arrives, do not vote for all those who have been highlighted for engaging in corrupt practices, even if those candidates are popular in leadership positions. We need leaders who will stand firmly against bribery,” he stated.

He emphasised that any leader involved in corrupt practices, including bribery, is akin to a tyrant and should not be elected, as such individuals may turn citizens into their subordinates throughout their leadership term.
Furthermore, Sheikh Rajabu announced that the BAKWATA in Dodoma, in collaboration with the Saudi Arabian Embassy’s Islamic Religious Department, has decided to conduct informative seminars to educate religious leaders about the dangers of engaging in and accepting bribes.
He indicated that various Muslim leaders have already received educational training through these seminars, enabling them to better inform their communities as the general elections approach.
“With these guiding seminars for Islamic religious leaders, the information will reach the worshippers, helping them to avoid the acceptance of bribery as they will understand the consequences of choosing representatives through illegitimate means in the eyes of God,” he concluded.
