BAKWATA urges Tanzanians to uphold peace, national unity

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Secretary General of the National Muslim Council of Tanzania (BAKWATA), Alhaj Nuru Mruma, has called on Muslims and all Tanzanians to protect and uphold national peace, stressing that without peace, societal development and the freedom to worship cannot be achieved.

Speaking at the national Eid al-Adha prayers held at the King Mohammed VI Mosque in Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam, Alhaj Mruma stated:

“The National Muslim Council of Tanzania (BAKWATA) urges every Tanzanian, in their respective capacity, to safeguard and maintain the peace of our nation, because without peace, there will be no development in society, and even the opportunity to worship will not exist.”

In his Eid message, Alhaj Mruma also urged all Tanzanians, especially those participating in the upcoming General Elections, to engage in clean politics and exercise their constitutional rights responsibly by voting or standing for office.

He further called on the authorities overseeing the election process to act justly throughout all stages of the election, ensuring that every citizen can enjoy their democratic rights fairly and in accordance with the constitution.

His remarks come as the country prepares for the 2025 General Elections, amid growing calls from various institutions to maintain national unity and prioritize the interests of the nation above political differences.
