DAR ES SALAAM: The management of Azam FC says efforts to find a new coach are ongoing following the sacking of Senegalese trainer Youssouph Dabo.
A statement released on Tuesday through the club’s verified Instagram account indicates that Dabo and his assistants, whom he brought to the club, have been let go.
“…we thank him for his integrity and his spirit of not giving up throughout his tenure at the club…we wish him all the best wherever he goes.”
While the management searches for a new coach, the team’s programs will currently be under the guidance of the youth team coaches,” reads part of the statement.
Dabo’s highest achievement at the club was recorded last season when he led them to a second-place finish in the Premier League.

This feat enabled them to qualify for the CAF Champions League (CAF CL) slot, but they were subsequently eliminated after a 2-1 aggregate defeat by Rwanda’s APR.
To make things worse, in his first and last league match of the current season, Azam ended in a goalless draw against JKT Tanzania at Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Meanwhile, there is strong speculation that Azam FC is in discussions with the current Al Hilal coach, Florent Ibenge, to take over the coaching responsibilities at the club.
