Azam FC Assistant Coach fined for damaging bench roof

DAR ES SALAAM: AZAM FC’s Assistant Coach, Bard Eddine Driss, has been fined 1m/- for damaging the roof of the technical bench at Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora after his team’s disappointing 2-1 defeat to Tabora United on December 13th, 2024.

In addition to the fine, Driss will be held responsible for the costs associated with repairing the damage. This penalty falls under Rule 45:2(2.5) of the Premier League regulations regarding coach conduct.

The Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB)’s disciplinary actions were yesterday given to several clubs and personnel following a series of incidents during recent matches.

Alongside Coach Driss’s penalty, JKT Tanzania’s Chief Executive Officer, Jemedari Said, received a formal warning for his improper conduct during a match against Simba SC where his side lost by 1-0.

Said violated match protocols by entering the competition area to communicate with coaches and players during the game. He faces sanctions under Rule 17:62 of the league’s regulations.

Furthermore, JKT Tanzania has been fined 500,000/- for accumulating an excessive number of yellow cards during the match, tallying seven in total.

Also, Young Africans’ Technical Director, Abdihamid Moallin, received a warning for violating Rule 17:17 by occupying the technical bench during three consecutive matches.

Despite this, he will be formally recognised as an assistant coach starting December 29, 2024, beginning with yesterday’s Young Africans match against Fountain Gate FC. KenGold FC’s Manager, Nuhu Nkaekwa, faces a three-match ban and a fine of 500,000/- for verbally abusing an assistant referee following KenGold’s 1-0 defeat to Pamba Jiji.

Moreover, he faces an extended two-match ban and an additional 1m/- fine for damaging a match ball with a sharp object, and he will also be responsible for covering the replacement costs.

These penalties are based on Rule 45:2(2.11) and Rule 45:2(2.5) of the Premier League regulations. Lastly, Kagera Sugar received a stern warning for arriving late to the technical meeting before their 1-1 draw with Namungo FC on December 10, 2024.

The team was reported to have arrived at 10:10AM instead of the scheduled 10:00AM, in violation of Rule 17:2(2.2) regarding match preparations.
