- Mamelodi eye Feisal
DAR ES SALAAM: AZAM FC have unveiled plans to fortify their squad in preparation for the next season’s competitions, notably the CAF Champions League.
The club’s Information Officer, Hasheem Ibwe, revealed this in Dar es Salaam on Sunday, while emphasising on the importance of acquiring experienced players to enhance their team and excel in the upcoming Champions League.
“We recognise the need for experienced players who can significantly contribute to our squad’s strength,” Ibwe stated, confirming the loan signing deal of goalkeeper, Aishi Manula from Simba, a move endorsed by the team’s technical panel.
Ibwe expressed confidence in Manula’s abilities, highlighting the technical bench’s belief that his experience will be instrumental in Azam FC’s quest for success in the Champions League next season.
Mamelodi Sundowns bid on Feisal In another update, Ibwe disclosed that Azam FC has received an offer from South African side Mamelodi Sundowns to acquire midfielder Feisal Salum.

“We have received an offer from Mamelodi Sundowns for Feisal’s services, but as of now, no agreement has been finalised between the two clubs,” Ibwe confirmed, noting: “We will keep the public informed as negotiations progress.” Additionally, Ibwe noted that the process of parting ways with other players who will not be part of the team next season is ongoing.
“Our goal is to perform well in the Champions League and that’s why we are taking steps to strengthen our squad,” he affirmed.
“We understand the challenges of competing in this tournament and are preparing our team accordingly.” Azam FC, alongside Young Africans, will represent Tanzania in the Champions League next season, while Simba and Coastal Union will participate in the CAF Confederation Cup. Azam earned this opportunity by finishing second in the Premier League last season.
