TANZANIA: AIR Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) retirees have thanked President Samia Suluhu Hassan for approving the outstanding payment of 14 years.
A statement released on Sunday by the leader of the retirees, Sauda Fundi said that the retirees who were approved for their payment are those who retired from 2008 to 2016.
”We thank President Samia Suluhu Hassan for showing sincere love to us by approving the payment of our claims, which took about 14 years without being paid. She has certainly cared for us, we ask God to continue to give her wisdom, love and compassion to continue leading the country,” said the statement.
They also thanked the Prime Minister, Kassim Majaliwa and the Speaker of the Parliament, Dr Tulia Akson who presented their problem in Parliament at different times.
“We are also grateful to the MP, Riziki Lulida for being appointed to carry our issue and monitor it closely till the end. Together with the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, the Treasury Permanent Secretary, Treasury Registrar and the ATCL management and the Board of Directors for completing this exercise,” the statement noted.
On January 8, this year, according to ATCL’s statement, the government paid all debts arising from arrears of contributions to retired employees of ATCL and members of Savings and Credit Cooperatives (Wanahewa Saccos).
The statement said the debts were the contributions that were not submitted to the former PPF Pension fund from May 2008 to October 2016 with Wanahewa Saccos for various periods before October 2016.
The statement noted that the process for payment of beneficiaries is currently coordinated by the Public Service Social Security Fund (PSSSF) and Wanahewa Saccos to ensure each member receives their dues by the law.
