Airtel, UNICEF donate internet learning devices in Dodoma

DODOMA: AIRTEL Tanzania has partnered with the United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to donate over 30 high speed internet-enabled learning devices to secondary schools in Dodoma.

Through its Airtel SmartWasomi initiative, this effort bridges the digital education gap and supports Tanzania’s 2025/26 ICT-in-education strategy, aligned with national development priorities.

The donation supports a broader five-year national plan led by Airtel and UNICEF to transform and connect over 3,000 schools across the country with digital learning access for free.

Some of the schools that benefitted from the donation included, Mtemi Mazengo Secondary School, Fufu Secondary School, Mwanakianga Secondary School and Pandambili Secondary School.

Airtel’s Dodoma Zonal Business Manager, Mr Salum Ngururu, said SmartWasomi initiative aims to build a holistic digital learning ecosystem by combining connectivity, devices, and content to enhance education outcomes.

“The devices will support 30 schools across Dodoma, providing free access to Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE), ShuleDirect and other learning platforms through the Airtel network,” he said.

He stressed the value of partnering with the government and UNICEF to deliver lasting impact in education.

“Our work with UNICEF helps us reach more schools and empower learners digitally,” he said.
