Airtel Tanzania launches nursing room to support working mothers

DAR ES SALAAM: In a bid to promote workplace inclusivity and support working mothers, Airtel Tanzania has launched a dedicated nursing room at its headquarters in Dar es Salaam.
The initiative, which aligns with the company’s commitment to gender-inclusive policies, was unveiled as part of the 2025 International Women’s Day celebrations.
Speaking during the launch, Airtel Tanzania’s Managing Director, Mr. Charles Kamoto, said the facility underscores the company’s resolve to create a conducive working environment for mothers juggling their careers and parenthood.
“One of our core values at Airtel Tanzania is to walk the talk. This nursing room is a reflection of our commitment to supporting women in the workplace, ensuring that Airtel Divas can thrive both professionally and personally without having to choose between work and motherhood,” he said.
Airtel Tanzania’s Human Resources Director, Ms. Stella Kibacha, noted that the facility is designed to enhance the professional experience of working mothers by providing a comfortable and private space for nursing.
“A dedicated space like this allows working mothers to balance their responsibilities with dignity and ease. Supporting nursing mothers contributes to their well-being and enhances productivity,” she said.
On her part, Airtel Tanzania’s Customer Experience Director, Ms. Adrianna Lyamba, highlighted the psychological benefits of the initiative, stating that the facility would ease the challenges of balancing career and parenthood.
“Parenthood should never be a barrier to career growth. This nursing room provides psychological peace, enabling working mothers to care for their infants while remaining productive,” she said.
Airtel Tanzania’s Supply Chain Director, Mr. Daniel Akuffo, emphasized that the initiative aligns with the company’s broader vision of inclusivity and empowerment in the workplace.
“A supportive workplace fosters both professional and personal growth. When employees feel valued and supported, they are more engaged and productive, benefiting both individuals and the company,” he said.
The launch of the nursing room reaffirms Airtel Tanzania’s commitment to creating an inclusive work environment where women can excel in their careers while fulfilling their parental responsibilities.
