Airtel stadium launched to boost football, community growth

SINGIDA: Airtel Tanzania has reaffirmed its commitment to sports and community development with the official launch of Airtel Stadium in Singida, a facility set to enhance football infrastructure and provide opportunities for young athletes.
The state-of-the-art stadium is expected to bridge the gap in sports infrastructure, fostering football development and economic growth in the region.
Speaking at the launch, Deputy Minister for Information, Arts, Culture, and Sports, Hamis Mwinjuma, commended all stakeholders involved in the project and urged residents to take ownership of the facility.
“I thank Airtel and all partners who have made this stadium a reality. To the people of Singida, this is your stadium. Maintain it well to ensure it remains in good condition for generations to come,” he said.
Airtel Tanzania’s Director of Information Technology, Franky Filman, emphasized the company’s dedication to supporting sports and empowering youth through strategic investments.
“Airtel’s investment in this stadium reflects our deep commitment to football development and creating opportunities for young athletes,” he noted.
He further highlighted that the facility will not only serve as a football hub but also drive economic activity through job creation and business opportunities.
“Beyond football, this stadium will host various sporting events, stimulate local businesses, and contribute to long-term sustainability. It will also create job opportunities, including for Airtel Money agents and vendors who will serve fans during matches,” Filman added.
