Attorney General (AG), Dr Eliezer Feleshi

COASTAL REGION: ATTORNEY GENERAL Dr Eliezer Feleshi has urged state attorneys and leaders in the office of the Solicitor General to uphold ethics and professional integrity in their workplaces

Judge Feleshi made the remarks at the launch of the three-day leadership training for the Management Team from the Solicitor’s General office at Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Leadership College in Kibaha Town.

“Working in that office means you have to make several decisions on behalf of the government. You can only do this work more efficiently if you stick to the ethics and continue to learn better ways to improve your work now and then,” he said.

He said the training was very important not only in increasing efficiency in Government institutions but also in sharpening leaders in the Law Sector.

“The Law sector is growing every day. Training like this is very essential to make you cope with changes that are happening in other sectors worldwide,” he told them.

Solicitor General Dr Boniphace Luhende told the meeting that for three years the office has been conducting such training to equip the leaders with an understanding on cross-cutting issues happening at a particular time.

“This training will help in building capacity among participants on Human Rights issues and learn how other institutions especially the National Prosecutions Services (NPS) office and the Court of Tanzania are registering and supervising cases through Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

Participants will also be equipped with knowledge on how to do preparation of Guidelines and Principles for simplifying work performance.”

He said up to September 2023, the office had handled 7,393 cases whereby a total of 7,256 of the cases were civil and other 137 were for mediation.

On the other hand, the office decided 620 cases whereby 579 of them were solved through Court and the remaining 42 were solved through dialogue outside the court.

“Among cases which were solved through dialogue included those which have big interest to the government including that of Ecodevelopment in Europe and Others vs the Government and Winshear vs Tanzanian Government.
