AFCON: Tanzania, Zambia share the spoils
San Pedro, Ivory Coast Tanzania national soccer team, Taifa Stars were forced to a 1-1 draw by their neighbors, Zambia’s Chipolopolo.
In a Group F match of AFCON 2023 played at Stade de San Pedro in Ivory Coast on Sunday night has seen both sides cherishing one point a piece.
Simon Msuva put the country’s envoys upfront in the 11th minute after being set up by his skipper Mbwana Samatta.
It was a nice move initiated by veteran midfielder Himid Mao who robbed of the ball from Zambian.
Just before halftime, Zambia captain Rodereck Kabwe was shown a second yellow card forcing referee to give him a marching orders after fouling Mbwana Samatta in an aerial combat.
In the second half, the Chipolopolo lads kept heads up by diffusing well each danger imposed by Stars.
In the 88th minute, their venom striker Patson Daka used well the corner-kick delivered by substitute Clatous Chama to balance the equation.
His towering header was simply too hot for Stars goalie Aishi Manula to punch it to safety.
As it stands, Tanzania continue to wait for their first win in AFCON and they were too close to seal it tonight.
