Adhere to country’s laws, NGOs advised
DODOMA: NON-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) operating in Dodoma Region have been urged to comply with existing laws, regulations and operational procedures to ensure their efforts meaningfully contribute to community development while upholding good governance principles.
The call was made by Assistant Administrative Secretary for Industry and Investment, Ms Mwajabu Nyamkomola, who represented Regional Commissioner Rosemary Senyamule during a recent regional NGOs meeting in Dodoma.
“Our office does not want to receive complaints about NGOs violating laws and regulations. Instead, we expect you to deliver meaningful development to the communities you serve,” she stressed.
Ms Nyamkomola also urged NGOs to operate transparently, especially in disclosing their sources of funding.
“I believe this meeting will help us reach a consensus on joint implementation strategies and promote transparency in funding sources, project content and accountability at all levels, from village, ward and district to regional, thus facilitating effective monitoring and evaluation,” she added.
Dodoma Regional Representative of the National Council of NGOs (NaCoNGO), Mr Isaya Silungwe, revelled the sector’s five-year strategic priorities.

“NGOs in the region have focused on strengthening governance systems, enhancing transparency and accountability, launching incomegenerating projects to reduce donor dependency and establishing a development fund to support organisations facing operational challenges,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Dodoma Regional NGOs Registrar, Ms Honoratha Rwegasira, said the two-day forum, which brought together 211 NGOs, followed districtlevel meetings held in preparation for the upcoming national NGOs forum scheduled for August.
