ACT’s Othman pledges to resolve land disputes

ZANZIBAR: ZANZIBAR presidential candidate for ACT-Wazalendo Mr Othman Masoud Othman has pledged to address the persistent land disputes in the Isles.

Speaking on Friday at campaign rallies in the villages of Paje and Mtende, Makunduchi Constituency in South Unguja District, Mr Othman asked for votes, saying he is determined to bring real development by addressing key challenges including land conflicts.

If elected, he promised, his government would ensure fair compensation for all affected citizens, proper land surveys and the issuance of ownership titles to rightful landholders.

Addressing the rally in Mtende, the candidate said that Zanzibar is a nation of peaceloving and civilised people, and therefore elections should be conducted in a peaceful and respectful manner.

He said this would help uphold the value of citizens’ votes and ensure leaders remain accountable.

He urged Zanzibaris to vote overwhelmingly for him and other ACT Wazalendo candidates, to form the government.

Mr Othman also promised to work on reducing the cost of living by increasing citizen participation in Zanzibar’s economy.

He highlighted the importance of promoting moral discipline and cultural values, lamenting what he called a worsening state of moral decay that is damaging the country’s image.

ACT Wazalendo campaign Chairman, Mr Ismail Jussa Ladhu described Mr Othman as a clean, responsible and trustworthy leader with no history of scandal.

He urged Zanzibaris to support him as a defender of people’s rights and welfare.

On Saturday, Mr Othman took his campaign trail to Chaani and Gamba villages in North Unguja, where he appealed to residents to elect him as the next President of Zanzibar in the upcoming October 29 General Election.

Upon arriving at Gamba Grounds at around 4:15pm, Mr Othman surprised many by choosing not to head straight to the podium as is customary.

Instead, he walked around the entire venue, shaking hands with supporters.

He later addressed the campaign gathering, promising to transform Zanzibar across all sectors if elected, urging citizens to vote for him so that he can “serve the people with honesty and dedication.”

Also speaking at the rally, former ACT-Wazalendo national Chairperson Mzee Juma Duni Haji praised Mr Othman as an exceptional leader, calling on Zanzibaris to support the party
