A call for technical cooperation between Africa CDC and Tanzania’s MSD

ADDIS ABABA: THE Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, has proposed technical cooperation between the Africa CDC and Tanzania through the Medical Stores Department (MSD), saying that Tanzania plans to establish drug distribution centers at border points and in all districts.

Minister Kombo made the proposition during his visit to the headquarters of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and commended the institution’s efforts in improving the health and well-being of the people of Africa.

In his discussions with the Director General of Africa CDC, Dr Jean Kaseya, Minister Kombo expressed his appreciation for the institution’s work, which brings international recognition, and expressed Tanzania’s readiness to strengthen its relationship with Africa CDC.

Moreover, the minister urged the institution to enhance its collaboration with various ministries of member states since their largest work deals with various sectors, including health, education, sports, and culture.

For his part, Dr Kaseya congratulated Minister Kombo for the visit and said that Tanzania could be a key partner in helping the Africa CDC deliver its message to African leaders.

While in Addis Ababa, Minister Kombo also visited the Emergency Operations Center, which monitors more than 140 health-related events across Africa.
