PM issues five-week ultimatum for entities to join GovESB system

DODOMA: PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has issued a fiveweek ultimatum to all government institutions that have not integrated with the Government Enterprise Service Bus (GovESB) to do so by July 30th this year.
GovESB is an electronic platform that enables communication between government systems. Speaking yesterday while representing President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan at the Public Service Day celebrations held at Chinangali Park in Dodoma, Majaliwa stressed the importance of digital transformation in improving public service delivery.
“All public institutions must be connected to GovESB by July 30th this year,” he said.
“This is a directive from President Samia. Once the e-Government Authority (eGA) completes its technical setup, every institution must integrate its systems. The number of connected institutions is still low. There is no cost involved and no need to include it in your budget.” Majaliwa noted that GovESB significantly enhances efficiency across government operations, enabling timely information sharing, minimising human error and tightening controls to prevent corruption.
“I am pleased to learn that 223 systems from 185 institutions have already been integrated and are interoperating,” he added.

The Prime Minister also urged institutions currently developing or operating digital systems to ensure compatibility with GovESB and the ability to exchange data seamlessly. He instructed the e-Government Authority (eGA) to maintain oversight to ensure connected platforms continue to share information as required.
“Anyone joining the system must ensure they can communicate with all others on the platform. I’ve been assured that this is already the case, but I want to emphasise, make sure the systems are interoperable and sharing data effectively,” he said.
Mr Majaliwa used the occasion to commend public servants for their dedication and urged them to continue upholding professional ethics and discipline in the execution of their duties.
“Let me take this opportunity to sincerely thank all public servants in Tanzania. I assure you that the sixth phase government stands with you. Perform your duties diligently for the benefit and development of our nation.” Minister of State in the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance, Mr George Simbachawene noted Tanzania’s international recognition in digital governance.
He revealed that a 2022 World Bank study assessing the maturity of global digital governance ranked Tanzania among the top performers.
“The report released in March 2023 shows Tanzania moved from Category B to A, ranking 26th globally, 2nd in Africa, and 1st in East Africa for its use of digital tools in government service delivery and citizen engagement.” At the event, Prime Minister Majaliwa officially launched two major systems the first being Government Enterprise Service Bus (GovESB): a national platform enabling interoperability and information exchange between government systems Another system launched was e-Wekeza System: An electronic platform allowing public servants to invest in the Faida Fund, a profit-sharing investment initiative.
Public Service Day is observed annually on June 23 by African Union member states to honour the vital contribution of public servants to national development and the progress of the African continent.
