DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzanian government said its citizens living in either Iran or Israel are safe as no cases of death or injury have been reported following the ongoing war between Israel and Iran.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, clarified on Thursday, adding that they are taking swift operational steps for their safe return to the country.

“Through our embassies in Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, which represents Tanzania in Iran, Kuwait, and Israel, we are continuing with efforts to register Tanzanians living in these countries,” part of the statement read.

In Israel, it is estimated that there are more than 200 Tanzanians, including embassy staff, students, and employees in various institutions.

Out of the 200 Tanzanians who are in Israel, 50 have already registered to receive assistance for their home return.

However, the Ministry noted that the existing security challenges, the Tanzanian Embassy building in Israel has not been affected by attacks.

“The government in collaboration with its local and international partners, is continuing to implement operational procedures to ensure that Tanzanians in those high-risk areas are safely repatriated,” the Ministry added.

The ongoing attacks between Israel and Iran began on June 13, 2025, making the security situation in both countries remain fragile, prompting various nations to take emergency measures to evacuate their citizens from the high-risk areas.
