CRDB opens accounts for newborns at Muhimbili

DAR ES SALAAM: CRDB Bank has opened special Junior Jumbo accounts for some newborns at Muhim bili National Hospital’s neonatal ward as part of its efforts to promote early financial literacy and celebrate the International Day of the African Child.
Each account has been credited with 10,000/- to help parents begin a savings culture for their children’s future needs, including education and healthcare.
The Junior Jumbo Account is designed specifically for children’s use only. The campaign was led by CRDB Bank Group CEO Abdulmajid Nsekela, who pin pointed the importance of financial education from an early age.
“We believe financial education should begin early, and this is our way of encouraging parents to start saving for their children’s future,” Mr Nsekela said on Thursday.
The Junior Jumbo Account offers an interest rate of up to 5.0 per cent per annum, helping savings grow steadily over time.

“Even small deposits can build up and become significant over time, especially when it comes to things like school fees or medical costs,” The Group CEO said.
The visit also doubled as a farewell to Prof Mohammed Janabi, the outgoing Executive Director of Muhimbili National Hospital, who is heading to the World Health Organisation (WHO) as Regional Director for Africa.
“We recognise Prof Janabi’s outstanding leadership and vision, especially in health research and innovation,” said Mr Nsekela.
“CRDB is ready to continue partnering with the health sector under his leadership at WHO.” Prof Janabi thanked CRDB for the visit and support over the years. “CRDB has always stood by us—even back when I was leading the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute. I appreciate the respect and friendship,” he said.
Junior Jumbo brand ambassador Paula Masanja also encouraged parents to take ad vantage of the account. “As a parent, I know how important it is to plan ahead. This account gives you a head start,” she said.
