SIMIYU: THE Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism has successfully increased the number of tourists visiting Tanzania from 1.7 million in 2021 to 5.2 million in 2024. International tourist arrivals rose from 922,692 in 2021 to 2,141,895 in 2024, while domestic tourism surged from 788,933 to 3,218,352 during the same period.

Additionally, tourism revenues have seen a significant rise, jumping from 1.3 US dollars in 2021 to 3.9bn US dollars in 2024.

This announcement was made by the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Ambassador Dr. Pindi Chana, during a public gathering attended by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the Old Bus Stand Grounds in Bariadi District, Simiyu Region.

Minister Chana attributed this success to the implementation of directives from President Samia, particularly in addressing challenges posed by dangerous and destructive wild animals, as well as the revision of compensation regulations to create more citizen-friendly laws.

Furthermore, the government has continued to build ranger outposts to help control wildlife threats. In Bariadi District, such stations have been established in Hangandefa, Tumba, and Ndabaka, with more under construction in other areas.
