Calmness returns after Samia resolves Dar Derby dispute   

DODOMA: IT is now calm in Tanzanian football circuit after President Samia Suluhu Hassan intervened and resolved the dispute erupted between the Young Africans and Simba over the Dar es Salaam Derby reschedule.

This intervention has eliminated the confusion and strong emotions that had arisen among the supporters of the sport.

Speaking today, Saturday, June 14, 2025, during an event to inspect development projects at Msalato Airport in Dodoma City, the Minister of Construction, Abdallah Ulega, said President Samia has demonstrated wise and attentive leadership by addressing the issue.

Ulega emphasized that the President’s action has brought peace to football fans and the country as a whole.

“Yesterday was a significant moment when you met with the leaders of the two biggest clubs in the country, Simba and Young Africans(Yanga). The historic action you took yesterday has calmed the nation and reassured football lovers and the entire country. Now, everyone understands that the match will take place as scheduled,” Ulega stated.

It is recalled that the 184th match between the traditional rivals Simba and Yanga, part of the second round of the NBC Premier League, was originally scheduled for March 8, 2025, before being postponed. Following the dispute over the schedule and preparations, the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) officially announced that the match will be played on June 25, 2025, at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
