Twiga Stars receive anti-doping education

TWIGA Stars have undergone specialised anti-doping education designed to protect their careers and secure their futures both on and off the pitch.

Led by Said Madadi from the Drug Control and Enforcement Authority (DCEA), the session equipped players with crucial insights into the dangers of drug abuse and its lasting effects on their lives and careers. After the session, Madadi commended the players for their enthusiasm and active engagement.

“I’m impressed by how receptive these young athletes were,” he said.

“Their curiosity about the risks of drug use and the numerous questions they asked show their desire to make informed choices.” Madadi stressed the need for organisations to prioritise such training, emphasising the critical role it plays in safeguarding the futures of young athletes.

“It’s essential that we continue to provide this education to help players build sustainable and successful careers,” he noted.

In another development, Twiga Stars recently won 2-1 against the Democratic Republic of Congo in an international friendly at the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Technical Centre in Kigamboni, with forward Clara Luvanga scoring both goals.

This match is part of the team’s preparation ahead of the 2024 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco. Head Coach Bakari Shime (pictured) emphasised that these matches go beyond mere outcomes.

“They are about understanding our strengths and pinpointing areas for improvement,” he said.

Shime explained that the coaching staff is trying out different tactical formations and player combinations to see how the team responds to pressure and adapts to various scenarios.

“This will help us develop a cohesive and competitive squad for WAFCON,” he added.
