Samia makes key appointments in Tanzania’s major institutions

DODOMA: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has made several key appointments involving deputy permanent secretaries and board chairpersons of various government institutions and companies.

According to a statement issued on Monday by Chief Secretary Ambassador Dr Moses Kusiluka, through Presidential Communications Director Ms Sharifa Nyanga, President Samia has appointed Prof Tumaini Nagu as Deputy Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI), responsible for health affairs.

In another major appointment, Dr Blandina Kilama has been named Deputy Executive Secretary of the Planning Commission, overseeing trade and innovation.

She replaces Dr Lorah Madete, whose appointment has been revoked.

Dr. Madete will be assigned new responsibilities, the statement added.

Furthermore, President Samia has also made significant changes to the leadership of various boards.

Ambassador George Madafa has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Puma Energy Tanzania, replacing Dr. Majige Budeba, whose term has ended.

The statement also shows that, Mr Jacobo Kibona has been reappointed as Chairman of the Board of the Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB) for a second term.

Also, Retired General John Mbungo returns as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tanzania Shipping Company (TASHICO) for another term.

Mr. Mussa Mandia has also been reappointed as Chairman of the Board of the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC) for a second term.

“The swearing-in ceremony for the new Deputy Permanent Secretary and Deputy Executive Secretary will be held on a date to be announced”, the statement concluded.
