Tanzania reaps fortune as Finland President ends 3-day tour

DAR ES SALAAM: THE President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, has officially concluded his fruitful three-day visit to Tanzania and departed the country today, 16 May, 2025.
He was seen off with full honours by his host, President Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the State House in Dar es Salaam.
President Stubb’s visit, which began on May 14,2025, focused on strengthening diplomatic ties, economic cooperation, and cultural exchange between Tanzania and Finland.

During the final day of his visit, President Stubb signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tanzania and Finland aimed at enhancing international cooperation through institutional collaboration.
The agreement was signed between the Salim Ahmed Salim Centre for International Relations in Tanzania and Finland’s Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation.
Earlier today, the Finnish President also participated in the Tanzania–Finland Business and Investment Forum, which brought together key stakeholders from both countries’ public and private sectors to explore new opportunities in trade and investment.

On Thursday, President Stubb toured the National Museum in Dar es Salaam and officially launched a new UNDP-supported project focused on promoting innovation in forest-based value-added products. The initiative is designed to boost sustainable development and local industry in Tanzania.
