ZANZIBAR: VICE-President Philip Mpango has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to transforming the sports industry in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar.
Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for new Priz Sports Grounds in Kilimani, Unguja, Zanzibar, Mpango highlighted the initiative as part of the 61st Anniversary of the Union.
He underscored that these new sports facilities are poised to become key venues for national, regional and international competitions, exemplifying Tanzania’s vision of becoming a powerhouse in sports.
“These venues will serve as catalysts for growth in our sports sector,” he stated.
The Priz Sports Grounds are part of a broader government strategy to enhance public participation in various sports, including football, netball, athletics, traditional games like Bao and draft, wrestling, cycling, bullfight and dhow cruise.
