Zanzibar advised to learn from successful Indonesian SMEs

INDONESIA: THE Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to Indonesia, Moshe Tembele, has advised a delegation of senior officials from the Zanzibar Economic Empowerment Agency (ZEEA) to learn from Indonesia’s successful strategies in economically empowering its citizens.

The ZEEA delegation is currently on a study and development cooperation tour of Indonesia, a country that has in recent days enjoyed massive success economically and socially.

During the discussions, Ambassador Tembele encouraged the delegation to make the most of their visit by learning from Indonesia’s successful strategies in economically empowering its citizens involved in small and medium enterprises (SMES).

He emphasized that the experience gained could significantly contribute to achieving the goals of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar (SMZ) in enabling its people to become economically self-reliant and improve their livelihoods.

On his part, Khamis Mwalim Suleiman, the Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office for Labour, Economy, and Investment, expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador for organizing the visit and for the warm reception received from embassy officials and various Indonesian government institutions they have engaged with.

The delegation comprises members of ZEEA’s Board of Directors and its management team.

Since their arrival in Indonesia, they have already held meetings with senior officials from the Ministry of Human Empowerment Coordination and the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of Indonesia, with the aim of learning effective approaches to economic empowerment.
