Government sinks 50bn/- to renovate Benjamin Mkapa Stadium

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Government has allocated approximately 50bn/- for the renovation of sports stadiums in the country to meet international standards and host major tournaments like the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the African Nations Championship (CHAN).

According to a statement released today by the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Culture, Arts, and Sports, Husna Sekiboko, Benjamin Mkapa Stadium has been allocated 31bn/- for renovations, while Uhuru Stadium will receive 19bn/- for improvements.

The chairperson made the announcement after inspecting the stadiums, stating that this initiative aims to promote sports in the country and ensure that sports infrastructure meets the required international standards.
