Grumeti Reserves donates 150 desks to three schools in Serengeti

MARA: Grumeti Reserves company has donated 150 desks to help improve  the learning environment of three  primary schools in Serengeti district, Mara region.

The beneficiary schools and their wards in brackets are Manyago (Kyambahi), Miseke (Manchira) and Mbilikiri  (Sedeko), all of which received 50 desks each.

The company’s Human Resources and Government Relations Director, Ms Martha Baare, handed over the desks to leaders of the three selected schools on Thursday (March 6, 2025).

“As a stakeholder in development, Grumeti Reserves has brought these desks knowing well that they are a necessity in any school infrastructure,” Ms Baare said during a brief handing-over ceremony.

She promised that the company would continue supporting the education sector in the district, challenging the pupils to use the conducive learning environment to work hard, saying some of them might be lucky enough to get employment opportunities in the company.

Grumeti Reserves is an eco-tourism company which supports conservation and community development at Ikorongo – Grumeti Game Reserves and Ikona Wildlife Management Area(IKONA), with the neighbouring villages of Serengeti and Bunda Districts getting top priority .

 

Community leaders, teachers and pupils who attended the handing over ceremony were overjoyed by the donation, saying it was an assurance to a positive impact in the learning environment and good examination results.

“Grumeti Reserves has brought these desks not only for the comfort of the pupils but also as a tool to help attain positive results for our pupils. As supervisors, we promise to play our part diligently,” said Manyago Primary School headteacher, Okayo Misolo.

His Mbilikiri Primary School counterpart, Hamisi Musoma, thanked Grumeti Reserves for the donation which is expected to be a catalyst to promote pupils’ performance in their studies.

“We pledge to use these desks as a catalyst to push for a better performance of our pupils as required,” he said.

The pupils whose schools received the desk donation wore jovial faces, showing that their learning environment had been given a facelift.

Manchira ward councillor, Jose Stanslaus Kitenena, promised that people in his area would be good ambassadors supporting the Grumeti Reserves investor in accomplishing his conservation undertakings.
