More CNG stations to be constructed across Tanzania

DAR ES SALAAM: DAR ES SALAAM based Rashal Energies plans to establish five Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations to fuel vehicles and industries, with a long-term goal of expanding to over 30 stations across the country.
Rashal Energies CEO Ms Farhiya Warsame revealed the plan when he met Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Dr Doto Biteko this week during the East African Petroleum Conference and Exhibition (EAPCE’25).
Dr Doto Biteko and Ms Warsame discussed, among others, the on-going construction of the 19 km gas pipeline from Kisemvule to Mbagala in Dar es Salaam.
Dr Biteko insisted on the government’s goal of establishing an extensive network of gas pipelines and fuelling stations to improve access to gas services for people.
He further said that the government was ready to collaborate with companies willing to invest in the service.
On her part, Ms Warsame expressed her gratitude to Dr Biteko for his guidance, which has been instrumental in enabling Rashal Energies to begin the project.
She also thanked the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) and the Tanzanian government for their efforts in ensuring the project’s progress.
Rashal Energies, a locally owned company headquartered in Dar es Salaam, employs Tanzanian professionals and has conducted extensive research before beginning the project. The company has adhered to all national regulations and obtained the necessary permits.
Regarding the gas pipeline, Ms Warsame said once completed, the Kisemvule Mbagala pipeline will supply gas to a Rashal Energies fuelling station, which will service vehicles, including buses for the Dar es Salaam Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.
“Rashal Energies will also build over 30 additional CNG stations for fuelling vehicles, motorcycles and for industrial use,” She explained.

During the construction phase, over 300 direct jobs are expected to be created, with more than 200 additional jobs anticipated once the CNG stations are operational.
In support of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s initiatives, Rashal Energies will also introduce domestic gas refuelling services to make it easier for people to access gas for household use.
