Mwinyi urges citizens to prioritise peace, stability

ZANZIBAR: PRESIDENT Hussein Mwinyi has asked the public to prioritise peace, stability, unity and tolerance, urging every citizen to learn from nations that have experienced instability and conflict.
Speaking at a special prayer gathering at Chaani Tangini, Unguja North Region, held to pray for the nation and its leaders, Dr Mwinyi said peace is the cornerstone of national development and a better quality of life for citizens.
He said: “Those who seek progress and justice must prioritize the peace for our nation above all else. Let us unite in our efforts to preserve peace and stability.”

Dr Mwinyi also commended the Zanzibar Mufti’s Office for its dedicated efforts in resolving conflicts within religious institutions, mosques and madrassas, which have greatly contributed to maintaining community harmony.
He reiterated his call for politicians, journalists and religious leaders to use their platforms to foster peace, stability and unity across the country.
He said: “Nothing should divide us. Let us continue praying for peace and stability in our nation.”
The President also expressed gratitude to the event organizers, describing the gathering as a meaningful and valuable gesture.
